Greetings. This is Pastor David Bass at New Geneva Orthodox Presbyterian Church with a moment of truth, where we challenge you to think through an important issue of life and faith. Today, how should the Christian respond to Islam? This is part two of a series on how the Christian in the 21st century should respond to Islam as it becomes increasingly aggressive and militant. Our cowardly and backward and appeasing governments, and I include federal, state, and local governments in this rubric, are unable and unwilling to face the genuine threat that Islam presents to us.

The recent Muslim terrorist attacks in San Bernardino and then in Orlando, our Exhibit A in this regard. How is the progressive agenda to appease Muslims working, let me ask you, has being nice and tolerant and diverse and open to Islam, has this brought us peace and understanding? Because we have opened the floodgates of Muslim immigration, are we safer? Are we more loved and respected by Muslims? And are we more united and integrated as a society, singing kumbaya together, holding hands?

The obvious answers to these questions are all a resounding no. In fact, if we know anything about Islam, it is that all of our appeals to appeasement and understanding and mutual respect and tolerance and diversity are seen as weakness by a religion that only understands force and strength. This is how Islam grew as a worldwide religion, if you know your history, and it is how it is growing today. And we can predict the future without being prophets, because Islam has a track record of some 1400 years of doing precisely as it's doing today. In Islam, there is no middle ground.

There never has been. There is no compromise. There is no tolerance. There is no diversity. There is no common center for mutual understanding.

This is all Western progressive nonsense talk. In Islam, there is only the Dar al-Islam. That is the house of Islam. That is true Muslim believers. And even that is up to debate.

Muslims kill each other over what exactly the definition of a true Muslim is. And then there is the other house, the Dar al-Harb. That is the house of war. And that is all non-Muslims. As the Dar al-Harb, the house of war, you, dear Christian, are either one or the other.

You are either Muslim or you are else a faqir, an unclean one, an unbeliever. And if you are of the house of war, then you are the object of eternal hostility, even as we see today, until you either convert to Islam, die, or else become what is called a demi, which is a shamed, subjugated, despised, and severely taxed minority in a Muslim society. So, do you truly understand your options, deluded American Christian? So many of you are living in a fool's paradise of Americana that you think none of this will ever touch you. It's all for the headlines and no one else.

Continue in your world of cell phones, revelation, red heifer, pre-trib, rapture hopes, and your contemporary Christian praise band good time feeling worship center Sundays. ISIS will soon be at the door of your worship center bookstore coffee bar to forcibly replace your Bibles with Korans, to put your women in burqas, and to have you confessing Allah is God and Muhammad is his prophet rather than Jesus is Lord. So, Christians, instead of responding like biblical sheepdogs of the gospel, which we should, we are nevertheless responding like mindless sheep to the encroachments of the wolf.

Christians today and pastors and churches are passively allowing the beast to ravage the flock. You had better think through these issues, Christian, and clearly because we are going to be facing Islam as an increasingly militant force in our country for the foreseeable future. Islamic terror events will multiply and Muslims will only feel emboldened by a passive and ignorant Christian majority. You will find no protection, Christian, and you will find no relief from government quarters either.

This administration rather has worked closely with the Muslim Brotherhood and worked closely with Saudi Arabia to arm and assist ISIS, that is the Islamic state in Syria, in its conquest in Egypt, Libya, Iraq, and now Syria. Obama is living as if he is a radical Muslim himself, even if he is not one in reality, and that's debatable. And he has also aided and abetted our enemies as they slaughter our brothers and sisters, as they crucify them, burn them, and cut off their heads. This administration has supplied ISIS with arms and military intelligence with the foolish belief that ISIS is better than the dictators they replace.

Now our own troops are facing an enemy equipped with weapons that are the best in the world because they are our weapons. Oh, shameful. Obama should be tried and put in Guantanamo Bay rather than trying to close it. Well, how should the Christian then respond to Islam today in its current state? I have suggested six ways, three of which we detailed last week.

For example, last week, we saw number one, the Christian must respond with the truth of Christ. Islam is not a companion religion to Christianity. Islam is not one of the three great monotheistic religions of the world. Islam and Christianity do not have shared truths to serve as common ground. Yahweh of the Bible and Allah of the Quran are not different names and different revelations of the same deity.

No, this is all weak, sniveling drivel from teachers whose desire is to compromise and go along to get along, even if it means giving away all the essential truths of the biblical faith. Islam and Christianity are opposite, diametrically opposed religions, 180 degrees in opposition to one another. Allah is not the God of the Bible. The Christ of the Quran is not the Christ of the Bible. And the ways of salvation in the Quran are those of works, while those of the Bible are the ways of grace.

And secondly, we also saw that the Christian must respond with the love of Christ because ultimately Muslims are lost sinners like the vast majority of mankind. Even in the midst of their savage butchery, we saw Muslims can be humbled to see the love of God. The Bible says God shows his love for us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. We are obligated to show this in word and in deed as Christians to all, wherever and however possible. And when we are persecuted and slain and reviled, we are to nevertheless love those who are our enemies.

Jesus said, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. But is this the only and the exclusive response to Islam that we should have? We also saw last week, no, there is the response number three. That is, the Christian today must respond with appropriate self-defense. The Christian must respond with appropriate self-defense, no matter how politically incorrect this may be in the minds of the progressive.

This was an important segment because Christians are so ill-informed regarding the Second Amendment and self-defense. We observe, for example, that every Christian action can be guided for direction depending upon the covenant under which it falls. There are four of these covenants that are still operative today and for which God holds us accountable. There is, for example, the covenant of creation in which we find the dominion mandate to be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and take dominion of it.

And then there is the marriage covenant in which we find fruitful companionship and helpmates for our lives and progeny for the future in the marriage covenant. And then we also saw there that there is the covenant of redemption or sometimes called the covenant of grace in which God gave to his son, Jesus, a people, the church, and in which we, the people, find salvation by grace through faith in that Jesus Christ. And then finally, there is the civil covenant in which we order our lives under God, established in Genesis. We order our lives under God by governing ourselves according to God's will.

So then, it is under this fourth covenant, the civil covenant, that appropriate self-defense and the Second Amendment falls. We saw in some detail how the Bible requires us to defend the weak and the defenseless, to defend ourselves and our families and our communities. And then for Christians today to just roll over and say, we are commanded to love our enemies. So I must let the Muslim jihadist rape my wife, kill her and my children, and then I must turn the other cheek. This is not only cowardly and stupid, but it is a misunderstanding of what action is appropriate when and under what covenant.

Determining what action is appropriate at what time requires biblical wisdom akin to that of Solomon. You remember Solomon in Ecclesiastes chapter 3, he says, for everything there is a season and there is a time for every matter under heaven. And then he goes on to articulate some of them in contraries.

He says, a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to pluck up what is planted, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to break down and a time to build up, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to cast away stones and a time to gather stones together, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to seek and a time to lose, a time to keep and a time to cast away, a time to tear and a time to sow, a time to keep silence and a time to speak. That's today. Oh, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war, and a time for peace, unquote.

Ecclesiastes chapter 3, verses 1 through 8. So as you can see, there is no absolute prescription for any particular behavior as the Anabaptist pietistic pacifist school understands it. No. Rather, the man of biblical wisdom knows when the appropriate time to defend himself arises and when he should turn the other cheek when persecuted. The key to understanding our right to self-defense or any other act for that matter of the Christian, the key to understanding this is understanding under which covenant we are acting in true biblical wisdom.

And I refer you then to the entire lecture of last week for more detail. Just understand, dear listener, that there is appropriate self-defense expected of you, Christian, when Islam is at our doorstep and venting their demonic jihad upon us. But individual self-defense is not the only response the Christian should have. This brings me to Christian response number four to Islam. Christian response number four to Islam.

Number four, the Christian must respond with appropriate cultural and societal defense. This means police and military, of course, but other things as well. Appropriate cultural and societal defense. Do not go hide in your basement under a bushel while Muslims advance what passes for culture in Islam while destroying our culture. Just in the last week, a Muslim smashed a church in Malmo, Sweden, and another Muslim defaced a statue in Bologna, Italy with the words, Allah Akbar.

And when the Imam Ahmed Al-Tayyib met with Pope Francis recently, the Imam demanded that all of the statuary and crosses and artifacts in the Vatican be removed or covered. He was so offended. This weak and vacillating Pope went and did it. Know and understand as well in this cultural and societal defense that Islam does not allow the human form to be represented in art. This has consequences as well for art in general.

When the Muslim army conquered Alexandria, Egypt in 641, for example, under the Caliph Omar, Omar was asked by a subordinate, what should be done with all of the books in the great world-renowned library of Alexandria and the renown of that library reverberated not only in its own day, but also down to our own day. So great was it? So many holdings that they have. And Omar said, these books contradict the Quran. They deserve to be burned.

If they agree with the Quran, they are unnecessary and irrelevant. Therefore burn them all. It took six months to do it. This is an iconic example of Islam's attitude towards learning. And towards understanding the world around them.

Islam also prohibits all music. Do you understand this? Islam prohibits all music with only a very small minority of teachers dissenting from this opinion. And this opinion is based on one Quranic verse that condemns, quote unquote, idle talk. And most imams interpret idle talk as referring to music.

On and on we could go. But all you have to do is cast your attention across the world today and recent centuries and past centuries. And you observe a vast, rich, teeming culture and society in the West, which has been inspired by notions of liberty and freedom of expression, fostered by biblical Christianity, and then turn and compare it with the barren dead culture as the inheritance of Islam. Who goes to Saudi Arabia or Afghanistan or Iraq for art, food or music? Where's the Pakistani symphony orchestra?

Where's the art institute of Saudi Arabia? Can you find a bacon wrapped goat burger in Afghanistan or maybe find a single soup Nazi in Syria? Or can you find the series diners, drive-ins and dives of Iran? No. Where's the food channel or the music channel on Al Jazeera TV?

Have you ever had a glass of Chardonnay or Cabernet Sauvignon from Libya? How about a fine microbrew from Kuwait? Wherever Islam predominates, it brings a culture of death in its wake. Islam kills all of these things. And Islam is this dead culture of death, and they wish to bring it to us with these army of refugees flooding our borders and our cities.

And yet cowardly, obsequious Westerners bow and scrape before stern Muslim Puritans as if these empty haters had something to offer to enrich and edify us in Islam. Americans have been so browbeaten and bitch slapped by Muslim apologists and progressives on how America is the source of all evil and has nothing to offer the world that we accept it. We accept it as gospel, and we're willing to give away the steak and lobster we have for the gruel and goat Islam has to offer.

Even worse, Christians, who of all people should know better, retreat into their evangelical cocoons, and they put their blinders on and say, all we need to do is share the gospel and wait for the rapture, right? What a cop-out. The gospel applies to every area of life and culture or to none at all. It really is time for us in the West to come to the defense of our heritage and our homes, O Christian. This means a literal physical defense of our borders, a defense of our religious faith, and a national sovereignty defense as well.

Well, Islam really has ambitions to conquer the world politically and militarily and religiously. The Quran says, for example, in Surah 61, verse 9, it is he that is Allah who has sent his messenger forth, that is Muhammad, with the guidance and the religion of truth to make it triumph over every other religion, even though the idolaters may be averse, unquote. Many other verses like this are taken by mainstream Islam as a license for world conquest. Do you realize, O Christian, how inspiring it is to Muslims all over the world to the rise of ISIS in Iraq and Syria?

Omar Mateen pledged himself to ISIS before going on his slaughter spree in Florida. The same is true of the couple in San Bernardino. In fact, CNN reports that ISIS has either carried on or inspired over 90 attacks in 21 countries since its inception. And we will see them, ISIS, that is radical Islam, Al-Qaeda by another name, here in the United States with increasing frequency. Howsoever the individual Christian responds, we as a group, as a society, must defend ourselves and our families and communities.

Worldwide, we must deliberately prepare to fight on a global front, Muslim aggression, wherever it appears. And nationally, we must stop our suicidal trend of self-denial in refusing to call the problem with Islam what it is. That is, Islam's cultural, societal, and military jihad upon the rest of us. The problem with Islam is Islam. Islam is intolerant of Christ, Christianity, and the West.

Wherever Muslims go in the West, they sequester themselves in Muslim ghettos, and they practice a culture of jihad upon their host nations. It has done so wherever it has taken root. Wherever Europe or here, look around you, look in Europe at what is happening there or here, what is happening in Europe will happen here. Eventually, open your eyes, look about you. Oh, Christian, I'm speaking to Christians in particular.

We must defend our own cultures and way of life against the jihad. Muslims do not integrate into their host cultures. Immigration from such cultures must be stopped. A broad program of education must be launched that takes pride in Western heritage again. For too many generations, progressives had deliberately inculcated shame and disparagement of the West in general, and Christianity in particular.

We are losing what we once had, and who we once were. The Christian church has been complicit in this too, cowardly. In the name of pluralism, Christians have allowed the forces of secularism in religion, statism in politics, and socialism in our economy to overwhelm what we once were. That is, we once were and must return to Christ as the focus of our religion, the constitution as the focus of our political life, and capitalism as the ground of our economic life together. The three C's versus the three S's.

The three C's, Christ, capitalism, and constitution versus secularism, statism, and socialism. Tolerance, pluralism, and diversity is the mantra of progressives, excuse me, unless it involves Christ and Christianity, though. Then, in the name of separation of church and state, it is the Christians that must sit down, shut up, and mind your place. While we, the progressive, nurture these poor, misunderstood Muslims who, in reality, practice the most intolerant religion on the face of the earth. So, our police, security agencies, and intelligence agencies must begin to protect us.

The Obama administration has not protected the American people. No, they have been busy about creating safe spaces for LGBT people and other so-called minorities on college campuses. Oh, so busy creating safe spaces for these, while ignoring the safe spaces generally and broadly for the American people against terrorism. The New York Post reports that the United States has experienced a major terrorist attack every year under Obama, with many more abroad. We were safer under George Bush than Obama, even though I have my issues with Bush.

It is one of the prime directors of government, period, is to keep us safe. Our own constitution, the preamble, says that in order to ensure domestic tranquility, and that's peace at home, and then provide for the common defense. Oh, dear listener, government is supposed to do these things. Even the Bible insists rescue those being led away to death. Hold back those staggering towards slaughter.

That's for the magistrate. The magistrate, the psalmist also says about him, may he defend the cause of the poor of the people, give deliverance to the children of the needy, and crush the oppressor. Rise up, then, Christian, out of your slumber and learn biblical wisdom. There is a time to turn the other cheek and love your enemy when our life and our actions and our witness fall under the rubric of the covenant of redemption and grace. But then there is also a time for the church to insist that government defend those.

It is commissioned to protect. That is when those actions fall under the rubric of the civil covenant. You must understand covenant or you understand nothing at all about the Bible. It is time for you, O Christian, and it is time for your church and your pastor to defend your faith and culture against Islamic jihad and insist that government defend us militarily and criminally against the violence of Islamic jihad. And this brings me to my fifth point.

That is number five. Christians must respond to Islam with the proven solutions of history. Christians must respond to Islam with the proven solutions of history. And there are proven solutions, even though there's been a historical blackout concerning them. How pathetic the politically correct ignorance of the American people are either incompetent or deliberately appeasing.

Leaders treat the problem of Islam and fashion solutions to Islam as if it were some brand new phenomenon on the world stage. Oh, and they tell us, oh, this normally nice religion of peace has been hijacked by extremists, and we must scramble to come up with the ways to cope with them while not offending the bulk of peaceful law-abiding Muslims who mean us no harm and only want to practice Islam in an atmosphere of harmony, tolerance, diversity, and peace. Oh, my goodness. Isn't this something of the crack fed to us by this administration and others in the progressive apologist camp?

We wring our hands in great angst and assemble study committees of the best and brightest to brainstorm strategies as if 9-11, Osama bin Laden, al-Qaeda, and ISIS have all appeared in an historical vacuum. How foolish. We have been fighting this war with Islam for some 1,400 years. This is the reality. It is not a war with extremists who have hijacked an otherwise peaceful religion.

It is a war with a religion whose heart, soul, and essence is that of conversion and conquest by jihad. If you're told anything else, it's a lie, whether from the models of Muslims who practice the doctrine of takiyah, which doctrine says that whereby lying to kafir is no sin and actually a good thing if it advances Islam. Kafir are unbelievers. Or whether you're told this by weak, silly, and duped progressives, it is a lie. The truth is, in this 1,400-year struggle, we in the West have found ways to successfully respond to Islam when it is waxing aggressive, even as it is today.

And one apt and pertinent example is from our own history. And it demonstrates that what Islam understands is force. Because at the dawn of the 19th century, Muslim pirates off the Barbary coast of Africa in the Mediterranean Sea regularly and cynically raided merchant ships of the world, including those sailing the waters of the Mediterranean from the United States. Muslim pirate ships demanded tribute from then-President Thomas Jefferson for captured sailors and the right of American ships to pass over the waters unmolested.

They were the equivalent of terrorists, following the example of Muhammad, who was a raider and a terrorist and a pirate himself. These were only following the example of Muhammad. And only Jefferson and Adams were not politically correct in calling it what it was. They said it was the predations of the Barbary Muslims, the predations of the Barbary Muslims. And how did Jefferson respond?

Well, with a brand new Navy at his command, Jefferson sent out Commodore Edward Preble, who sailed to Tripoli, Libya, and began a campaign of blockade of the Barbary ports and raids against Muslim cities all up and down the Barbary coast to the shores of Tripoli, he carried on this campaign. Does that sound familiar? From the halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli. This was one of the Marines' first engagements, was the Muslims of the Barbary coast at Tripoli. And it forced the Tripolitan ruler Hamid Karamanli to sign a peace treaty, returning all captured American soldiers and promising to leave future American shipping alone as well.

The war with Tripoli also intimidated the other three Muslim states in the region into leaving American shipping alone as they sailed the Mediterranean. It was the first major victory for the brand new, previously untested American Navy. What a glorious victory it was too. So this is what Islam understands. Force for the evangelical Christian to call for turning the other cheek or loving our enemy when it comes to defending the nation against an increasingly militant Islam.

Oh, this is nothing, oh dear Christian, dear foolish Christian, is nothing but foolish, stupid, and sinful behavior. It is a response that Christ intended. The idea of turning the other cheek and loving our enemy is a response that Christ intended for the individual Christian when confronting his persecutor with the claims of the gospel. It is a response that falls under the rubric of the covenant of redemption and grace. It is not a response that a Christian government or a Christian magistrate or any other government, secular or religious, should exercise this idea of turning the other cheek or loving one's enemy.

It's not a response that a Christian magistrate should exercise when resisting current militant Islam or the cultural and military jihad of Islam. That response should issue from the dictates of the civil covenant. In that case, we should be protected and defended Obama. Are you listening? The Obama administration has not protected us.

The Obama administration has not kept us safe. It's been so busy giving safe space for LGBT groups and other so-called minority groups that it has failed to give safe space for the American people against militant Islamic jihad. Dear listener, we have a sixth response that we should meet the predations of Islam, and that is the Christian must respond to Islam with the antidote to political correctness. Oh, this is such a major role that we must save it for another lecture. But there is a six-fold response, remember, dear Christian, a six-fold response that the Christian should have with Islam these days.

Number one, with the truth of Christ. Number two, with the love of Christ. Number three, with the appropriate self-defense. Number four, with the appropriate cultural and societal defense. Number five, with the proven solutions of history.
