Greetings, this is Pastor David Bass at New Geneva Orthodox Presbyterian Church with a moment of truth, where we challenge you to think through an important issue of life and faith. And today, what is the real agenda behind the global warming climate change crisis? Several weeks ago, we documented the unsettling nature of the settled science behind global warming and climate change. Now, I covered the 10 most disturbing scientific fallacies behind the claims of global warming, and I refer you to that podcast, and you can find it on our website, americastruths.org, americastruths.org.

Now, we emphasize there that rather than oscillating between one of two extremes, that is, raping and pillaging the earth, polluting and destroying creation, or on the other hand, worshiping and reverencing it, that is, making a goddess of mother nature, and worshiping the creature instead of the creator, as Paul says, God has rather intended for us to shepherd and husband the earth. And the Bible confirms this. Genesis 1.28 says of Adam and Eve, God blessed them.

And God said to them, be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the heavens, and over every living thing that moves on the earth. But when it comes to climate change, if all of the hysteria over something so vague, undefinable, and ambiguous as climate change, global warming, can provoke the chicken little response we see in our world today, where instead of the sky is falling, we run around exclaiming, the sky is warming, and we do it with no solid science to back it up, then what is the real purpose for all of the excitement?

Now, dear listener, all we ask is that you give consideration to a far more realistic and sensible explanation than what appears on the surface of what we hear from the global warming crowd. The science really does not justify the solution. And the solution is 1984 Orwellian in its breathtaking sweep. Dear listener, you will give up your private vehicle for mass transit systems. You will surrender your rural suburban private home of multiple hundreds, yea, even thousands of square feet as we live in now, for a 300-foot coffin apartment in a high-rise complex in a crowded megalopolis.

You will give up your steak, pork chop, and roast chicken meat diet in order to eat bug protein. You will be restricted to a one-child policy, as we have seen in China. You will come under the scrutiny of an electronic surveillance system that monitors your every purchase, every keystroke on every device, and every heartbeat and breath of every minute of every day. Oh, all of this is in the interest of saving the planet. Really?

Really, dear advocates, you want me to surrender my life to a dreary, monotonous existence with no future, under the control of a few masters who are not subject themselves to my same constructions. Now, you don't really think that Bill Gates or Klaus Schwab or John Kerry or Al Gore or Barack Obama and their banker friends will actually go without, like we are expected to do. Oh, and we do this all for the sake of an emergency, which cannot be shown to be real and which cannot demonstrate when it will be over either, but rather can be perpetuated. This emergency, this emergency can be perpetuated indefinitely. No, no, no, no.

Dear listeners, something else is at work here, and we do not have to search very far to find out just what that is. Three points I want to make with you in this regard. Number one, the radical draconian solutions to global warming give tyrants a perfect opportunity to acquire power and extract wealth. That's precisely what's going on here with the global warming scam. It is radical draconian solutions to global warming also coincidentally give tyrants a perfect opportunity to acquire power and extract wealth from us.

Since global warming is supposed to be a worldwide global threat, well then the solution must be equally worldwide and global. And this mere bald assertion gives the global warming ruse something elegant that makes it perfect for tyrants, right? Every aspiring tyrant from Nimrod to Nixon, from Lamech to Barak, has sought worldwide domination. And now, with the advent of a worldwide crisis, albeit fabricated, a worldwide system must also be imposed.

For example, the influential Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, very influential established by the United Nations, they say stabilizing temperature increase to below two degrees centigrade relative to pre-industrial levels will require an urgent and fundamental departure from business as usual. They also say we have to act. We need a whole of society approach. No one can be left out. No household, no business, no government.

Oh, and Governor Newsom of California, he calls for a whole government approach. You see what's coming, dear listener? And the international banker, Eric Heyman of Deutsche Bank, he comes right out and says it baldly. He says, and I quote him, I know that eco-dictatorship is a nasty word, but we may have to ask ourselves a question, whether and to what extent we may be willing to accept some kind of eco-dictatorship in order to move towards climate neutrality, unquote.

But when protests are raised against so obvious a power play, well, a familiar argument is trotted out, which has been used by almost every tyrant in history, and that is necessity. Necessity. Necessity. Yes, William Pitt says of necessity when spoken by governments, and I quote Pitt. He says, necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom.

It is the argument of tyrants. It is the creed of slaves. Yes, necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom, isn't it? Do you remember how this creed of slaves has been used recently, right? It was necessary to lock down the world for an elusive virus.

It was necessary to shut down businesses and wear useless, stupid masks and avoid human contact. It was necessary to take an experimental gene therapy masked as a vaccine. Oh, now it has become necessary to shut down all of civilization in order to lower the earth's temperature by a few degrees. An elusive goal, admittedly, by all. An elusive goal, no one has that even clearly articulated, can be achieved.

Yet, when global chicken littles are confronted with this reality and the threat to our constitutional liberty and the centuries of culture it has taken to form it, they have what has become a trite response. You'll hear this a lot. This time, it's different. Oh, how ominous that is, isn't it? You'll hear this cliche repeated, ad nauseum.

This time, it's different. Oh, yeah? Hmm. Different from the time when King Nebuchadnezzar thought it was necessary for the whole world to bow down to his image? It's different from the time when Caesar thought it necessary to enroll the whole world in a census?

Do you think it's different from when Caesar Nero thought it necessary for the whole world to pay homage to himself as the beast from the sea? Is it really different from when tyrants like Hitler or Stalin or Mao thought it necessary to see the whole world bend to the historical inevitability of the Marxist revolution? Oh, no. This time and place really is no different. There's no difference between the tyranny of the past and that which is proposed to come.

Whether it be a tyranny of a one-man dictator or a committee in the French Revolution or an eco-dictatorship of the present day, it is still a dictatorship that is an unwarranted tyranny. And then, who will lead this whole-of-government approach, this eco-dictatorship? While no single individual or government has stepped up to seize the reins of power, at least yet, a likely candidate is assuming the mantle of power, and that is the United Nations. Yes, the United Nations. The World Bank, which is the final, or I'm sorry, the financial instrument.

The World Bank is the financial instrument of the United Nations, by which the United Nations exercises power and influence. Well, the World Bank has an entire web page entitled Climate Change Governance. Very important title, Climate Change Governance. Now, the World Bank dictates policy worldwide via directing loans to developing countries. They do so insofar as government complies with the United Nations, their approved climate change policy.

If you do, you get the money. If you don't, ha, sorry, Charlie. Now, this dictation will only increase in detail and severity as the climate crisis deepens. And with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, I can't overstress the importance of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change formed by the United Nations being the most influential body on climate change policy in the whole world. Well, it only stands to reason that the United Nations will be by default the body which at least serves as the international clearinghouse for climate policy, if not its actual eco-dictator.

Many of the governments that play an integral part in the United Nations have deep roots in another worldwide movement. And that brings me to point number two. That is the close association of environmentalism with Marxism in the recent past makes global warming a perfect issue to impose the Marxist utopian state on the world. Now, in both America and especially in Europe, Marxism, when it could not win over the hearts and minds of the people on its own merits, it allied itself with green politics. Are you surprised? Actually, when we examine both suitors for absolute power, we should not be surprised. Green politics has long been associated with totalitarianism. How many people know, for example, that the Nazis were green?

Hitler himself was a vegetarian, asserting that meat production wasted the vast amount of grain that was produced by the Volk, by the people. He also experimented with replacing coal with hydroelectric and wind power, too. Well, an author, Rupert, Rupert Darwall, excuse me, the author, Rupert Darwall, in his book, Green Tyranny, and the subtitle on that book, Green Tyranny, is exposing the totalitarian roots of the climate industrial complex. A very revealing title.

Well, Darwall establishes the deep connection between, first, the national socialism of fascist Germany, and secondly, the Marxism of the socialist West with green environmentalism. Environmentalism, like a naive teenage girl infatuated with rock and roll bad boys. Well, environmentalism has, by its very nature, always been attracted to totalitarian ideology. It is, after all, the only means by which environmentalism may achieve her aspirations for transforming the planet, quote-unquote. Well, beginning in Sweden in the 60s, always a beacon Sweden, a beacon of socialism in the non-communist West.

Well, environmentalism gained in Sweden a foothold. Prime Minister Olof Palme became a famous advocate for green policies during the acid rain controversy of the 70s and 80s. Some of you gray hairs may remember this controversy. Palme allied himself with Marxists all through Europe, and he was deeply critical of the United States. This toxic marriage of environmental politics and Marxist philosophy spread then to Germany and eventually to the United States.

That marriage made in hell now has a name. Eco-Marxism. Eco-Marxism. Now, to the modern advocates of green communism, Marx was always green. Surprise, surprise.

Just when you thought that Marxism had been consigned to the dustbin of history after its utter failure in the laboratory of the real world in every country in which it was tried, well, abracadabra, Marx appears reborn from red to green. Eco-Marx, right? For example, University of Miami economics professor George Gonzalez writes that, and I quote him, the eco-Marxist contention is that the writings of Marx and Frederick Engels contain a thorough ecological critique of capitalism. Unquote. Oh, it's amazing what you can find in a failed philosophy when you love it enough.

This newly refurbished menace now promises not only to redistribute wealth and the means of production to the proletariat as it used to do when it was red, but now will make of the earth a renovated paradise now that it's green, bringing eco-justice to the oppressed, and returning to nature through sustainable degrowth. Another buzzword. Eco-justice and sustainable degrowth. Those are two buzzwords that you have to be very careful of with eco-Marxism. And what they intend to do then is dismantle all of Western civilization and what we produce and use and enjoy as the fruits of our labor.

All this goes away under eco-Marxism. It goes to show once more that there's really no philosophy so irrational and unworkable, but that some professor on some campus somewhere will not espouse it. And that's true of eco-Marxism. And it's embraced not only by professors in their ivory towers, but also by politicians in the halls of Congress. Exhibit A is the so-called Green New Deal bill introduced by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and a dozen other colleagues, which would ensconce, encode a sweeping transformation.

This congressional bill would code a sweeping transformation of the American landscape and invoke an eco-dictatorship to enforce its provisions. And as Mark Levin has aptly pointed out in his book, American Marxism, and I encourage you to read that book. There's a whole chapter on the Green New Deal and American Marxism. He says, it is a ludicrous Marxist-centered bill, unquote. And he includes, Levin does, the substance of the entire bill so that we can get a grasp upon exactly how extensive is the Marxist tyranny, which will be practically strapped across our backs and meant to bear by every American.

Well, what will be the consequences for us then, dear listener? Well, the consequences will be my point number three, and that is the remedies for global warming will inevitably impoverish all of us, take away our God-given inalienable rights, and make of us futile serfs, hearkening back to the Middle Ages. And I'm not being overdramatic on this. The remedies for global warming, as they're outlined even by the advocates themselves, the remedies for global warming will inevitably impoverish all of us, take away our God-given inalienable rights, and make of us futile serfs, hearkening back to the Middle Ages.

The history of humanity is not liberty, dear listener, but slavery. Now, as I have argued elsewhere, the default setting of the human soul, and that is apart from God, the default setting of the human soul apart from God is slavery, which history bears out abundantly. I've referenced this elsewhere, and you can find this on our website, americastruths.org as well. Liberty, that is true biblical freedom, is the rare exception in history, and the luminous jewel in that history of liberty is, of course, the American Constitutional Republic that we have known for some 400 years now, if we include the colonial period, which I always do.

This is what is at stake in this debate, dear listener. If you think I'm being maybe a bit overdramatic, well, just consider one factor which has already begun your slide into poverty, that is the shutting down of oil pipelines and the strangling of U.S. sources of energy in the name of green energy by the Biden administration. And it has spiked the cost of gasoline from the some $2.50 range, $2.50 range, over $5 per gallon now, oscillating, isn't it, between. All Americans have felt this effect of eco-Marxism in their wallets. But to eco-Marxists, it's a necessary step in what they are calling a transition.

You've heard that term before too, right? Oh, this is only a transition to the workers' eco-paradise. But it's only the beginning, dear listener. The Green New Deal, when fully implemented, would also, and I want to bring out three points from the Green New Deal proposed in Congress. The Green New Deal, when fully implemented, would also, number one, achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions.

That's one of the aims. Achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions, which means, practically, taking all gasoline engine-driven vehicles off the road, closing all fossil fuel-burning power plants, and forcing you to find other means of heating your tiny home, other means than oil, gas, or wood-burning fuels. And as critics have rightly observed, there really is no workable alternative yet in place, right? Just go out and buy an electric car, yeah, easier said than done, nor is there a workable alternative on the horizon.

In fact, so ill-prepared is eco-Marxism, eco-Marxism, so ill-prepared are they to sustainably replace fossil fuels, that it makes one wonder whether there really is any intention whatsoever of sustaining the level of wealth and prosperity of the American people, or whether the unstated purpose is to drive us into poverty and want after all. And that's the conclusion that I have come to when the Green New Deal tries to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions. It's to drive you and me into poverty and want.

Well, secondly, the Green New Deal also wants to, and I quote, promote justice and equity by stopping current, preventing future, and repairing historic oppression on behalf of frontline and vulnerable communities. What is that, right? This is eco-babble for redistributing wealth to the favored groups of the green tyrants who have the rule over us. And we already see this redistribution of wealth at work. We see it manifest in policies like reparations for the descendants of black slaves and guaranteed outcomes for indigenous peoples, that is Native Americans, whose land we now unjustly occupy.

And so therefore, wealth must be redistributed to them for the sake of eco-justice. Well, these are just two examples of equity, that is guaranteed equal outcomes versus equality, which is equal opportunities, not outcomes, equal opportunities for all. So whenever you hear the buzzword eco-justice, hold onto your wallet because you're about to be fleeced again by socialists who think they know better than the marketplace. Who deserves what? But it is consistent, dear listener.

All of this is consistent with what the former chair of the IPCC, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, what they have said in the past about the real purpose of the worldwide green movement. And that was said by Dr. Atmar Adenhofer, who was the co-chair of the IPCC from 2008 to 2015. What did he say? Well, he says quite baldly, he says, we redistribute de facto the world's wealth by climate policy. He's come right out and said it.

And then thirdly, the Green New Deal also hopes to work with farmers and ranchers to eliminate pollution and greenhouse gas emissions from the agricultural sector. Oh yeah. Work with farmers.

You mean impose on farmers and ranchers to eliminate pollution and greenhouse gas emissions from the agricultural sector. Well, dear listener, here's the cow fart factor. Oh, the cow fart factor. To the eco-Marxist, farming and ranching are rife with greenhouse gases and pollution. For example, we are already seeing farms in nations like Holland being shut down because of nitrogen pollution ostensibly.

Here in the United States, beef is being villainized as a greenhouse gas polluter. Factors like the inefficient use of grains to feed cattle when it could be used to feed people, or the cow farts, which are de facto greenhouse gas emissions, and even the sequestration of large tracts of land to graze grass-fed cattle, which is indeed the organic way to do this. Well, these sequestrations of land are huge waste of precious resources, at least to the eco-Marxist. And beef production in America accounts for billions of pounds of carbon dioxide as well every year, according to the eco-Marxist. Well, what have we then to save the day?

Oh, bugs. That's their answer, bugs. Both Klaus Schwab and even Pope Francis have advocated that the faithful begin developing a taste for bug protein instead of the injurious to the environment beef, pork, and chicken protein, to which we are accustomed. To the eco-Marxist, food in general must become rarer and more costly to the human in order to conserve the Earth's resources and keep her green. In other words, dear listener, you will eat your bugs and porridge and you'll be happy with your lot or else.

Oh, dear listener, taken together, all of the elements of the Green New Deal become historically the tired old components of the black raw deal of meta-evil serfdom. The proponents of the Green New Deal are really no different than the masters of the feudal manner. They want the best for themselves. You don't really think that our lords will eat bugs and live in tiny houses. No.

And they want the least for you. They will be your masters and they will make you feel it. And one cannot escape this conclusion looking at what is being proposed for us and comparing it with history. But this is not what God intends for you, dear listener, in His Son, Jesus Christ. True liberty has characterized the believer.

If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples and you will know the truth and the truth will set you free, as Jesus says. That truth is first and foremost a spiritual liberty. It is freedom from the burden and curse of sin. It is salvation in Jesus Christ. But that's not all.

New life in Christ has repercussions for all of life. And that liberty soon frees a man in his own personal life with his family and finally into his community, including the world of his work and culture and government institutions. It's taken centuries, yea, millennia. But that original spiritual liberty has brought us the untold wealth and opportunity we know in Christian civilization, culminating in the liberty found in our constitutional republic. Are you willing to sacrifice all of this, dear listener, to the tyranny of the Green New Deal?
