Greetings. This is Pastor David Bass at New Geneva Orthodox Presbyterian Church with a moment of truth where we challenge you to think through an important issue of life and faith. And today, I want to ask you, what were the preconditions for we the people, which the founders assumed, had to obtain if our Constitution was ever to succeed? Preconditions for the success of our Constitution. Do those preconditions exist now in our nation?

I want to ask as well. Now, as the Vice-Regent under God Himself, our Constitution establishes the people as the supreme power in a republican form of government. Part of the great experiment of America is this establishment of the body of citizens, the people, as the supreme ruler of the nation instead of a single tyrant or monarchy or privileged ruling class. It is considered an experiment because a free republic and all of its wondrous benefits is not the natural state of humankind. It must be carefully, studiously crafted.

Certain conditions must preexist if a constitutional republic is to come into being. And as we have detailed in previous broadcasts, slavery and tyranny are the default setting of the human soul apart from divine intervention. Ponder and consider with me, over three millennia of Egyptian dynasties were only and exclusively ruled by pharaonic tyrannies. Perhaps 4,000 years of Chinese history were dominated by emperors who treated the people as abject peasants and servants. There's only one place where a tradition of a free Christian republic saw its birth, and that is in the West.

But our founders were also painfully aware that a constitutional republic could not survive even a generation if we the people consisted of an ignorant pagan rabble. Such a nation would quickly sink into another run-of-the-mill tyranny of the world. And one of the unknown signers of the Constitution, a man named Abraham Baldwin, observed this when considering what happens to a people that abandoned Christianity and a thoroughly educated populace into principles of liberty.

He said, when the minds of the people in general are viciously disposed and unprincipled and their conduct is disorderly, a free government will be attended with greater confusions and evils more horrid than the wild, uncultivated state of nature." Does that sound familiar? Sounds like that to which the 21st century America is headed? When a people characterized by an evil nature are given free reign in a society to manifest themselves, what do you suppose it will manifest itself as? Evil, of course.

Consequently, when we the people are evil through and through, what are we to expect? Anything better than when the monarch, the tyrant, the emperor is evil? No. In fact, it can be argued that it is easier to rid a country of one or a small number of evil tyrants than to wipe out an entire nation of its citizens who are evil. Knowing this, seeing it confirmed in the historical record, our founding fathers insisted that four preconditions exist in a Christian constitutional republic before it can be expected to succeed.

Number one of those four, number one, we need, as a precondition, a Christian moral and ethical framework. A Christian moral and ethical framework. There's no way that a republic governed by the people can flourish without the Christian faith tempering every facet of its life. Self-government requires self-discipline in accord with the code, and that code for our founding fathers was implicitly biblical Christianity. The constitution is framed with this in mind.

Samuel Adams puts it this way, he's so eloquent, he says, and I quote, a general dissolution of principles and manners will more surely overthrow the liberties of America than the whole force of the common enemy. While the people are virtuous, they cannot be subdued, but when they lose their virtue, they will be ready to surrender their liberties to the first external or internal invader. If virtue and knowledge are diffused among the people, they will never be enslaved. This will be their great security. Samuel Adams, unquote.

Well, we see Israel was consigned to exile because she forgot the God of her youth and his law. As Hosea says, my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me. And since you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your children. In fact, Israel came to a point where she could not distinguish good from evil.

Isaiah says, woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter, unquote. Well, so many so-called Christian nations forgot God and his law too, and they paid the price. France, for example, in the French Revolution of 1789, which was just after our revolution, they rejected God altogether and exalted the goddess reason. The leaders of the French Revolution even created a statue, an idol of reason, if you will, and paraded it around during the tennis court oath.

A significant moment in the revolution when the leaders dedicated themselves to resistance to God, the church and monarchy. Well, the trouble was no moral restraint was evident in the following days when the French Revolution descended into the reign of terror, as it's known now. Thousands were executed at the guillotine for little more than owning a silk brocade jacket, for example. The great egalitarian democratic experiment in France, having jettisoned Christianity and biblical morality, decayed into the dictatorship of Napoleon.

A republic where the people govern themselves demands a clear standard of right and wrong, and the leaders and the people who elect them with the integrity to live by it. Otherwise you get what we have in the United States today, an evil, corrupt, debauched system, where those in power are up for themselves, and the people over whom they rule are easily fooled because they look for what they can get and want to believe as truth the lies they are told. As John Adams puts it, our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."

For example, Davy Crockett of Alamo fame also served as a congressman from Kentucky in the early 1800s, and he gave a speech opposing a bill that would give government relief to a widow of a naval officer. Very sympathizing, right? But in that speech he expressed great sympathy for the widow, and he offered to put up a week's salary to her benefit. But he also insisted, and I quote him now, he said, Congress has no power to appropriate this money as an act of charity. Every member upon this floor knows it.

We have the right as individuals to give away as much of our own money as we please in charity, but as members of Congress we have no right so to appropriate a dollar of the public money. We cannot, without the grossest corruption, appropriate this money as the payment of a debt, and we have not the semblance of authority to appropriate it as charity. Unquote. Davy Crockett. Charity.

Welfare checks are outside of the purview of government. Who has the moral character to take a stand like this today? Every one of the reprobates who serves in Congress today cannot wait to give away government resources. Our money, the blood, sweat, and tears of the taxpayer can't wait to give it away to lazy, cynical fellow citizens. And this on top of the graft and theft that they commit in making themselves wealthy at taxpayer expense.

One need only look at the Somali daycare scandal perpetuated by evil government officials like Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar and Governor Tim Walz. For people like them, and they exist in the millions in America, the American government is only a super cash ATM from which they can withdraw free money. But this was foreseen by wiser men than us. For example, to quote Alexander Fraser Teitler, who was a Scottish historian in the 18th century, Alexander Teitler says, and I quote, a democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government.

It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, he says, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship, unquote. Prescient, this man. Bingo. An immoral, covetous populace will always bankrupt its government treasury.

Teitler's phrase, a loose fiscal policy. That's an understatement of what the United States fiscal policy is today. In fact, what can we say about the fiscal state of the U.S. is that it is history's greatest monument to the transgression of the Eighth Commandment, thou shalt not steal. What else can we say about the other commandments, huh? Have no other gods before me?

Oh, instead, Americans have any other god but the god of the Bible. Thou shalt do no murder. Instead, we abort our children and coddle illegal alien murderers. Or how about thou shalt not commit adultery. Instead, we indulge every kind of sexual perversion.

The first and greatest precondition for a free constitutional republic needs to be restored to its proper place. That is a Christian moral and ethical framework. Right now, there's an ugly devilish chaos of evil in our federal dominion of demons, the deep state. All talk about ending the deep state and returning to the good old days of yesteryear is nostalgic nonsense. We can welcome the future only by conforming to God's plan for the future.

That is a millennium of peace and prosperity under the rule of Christ and his church. I sketch what this looks like in previous broadcasts. Well, there you will also find five other broadcasts related to this subject. Perhaps you remember them from days past. It's one of the subjects I've devoted the most careful attention to since it matters so deeply.

Christ will establish his kingdom without fail, with or without us. And the choice is yours. Well, the second precondition for a constitutional republic, the second precondition of our founding fathers is a widely educated populace in the principles of republican governance. A widely educated populace educated in the principles of republican governance. This is a factor in a free constitutional republic of which so many Americans are ignorant, in a great irony.

The great majority of Americans are utterly ignorant of the education and training in how a free people govern themselves. Yes. In direct contradiction to George W. Bush, who said upon his invasion of Iraq, he said mankind has a natural desire for freedom. And he thought that all we had to do was set up democratic elections and voila, Iraq would suddenly become a western style democracy and enter the civilized world in direct contradiction to this simplistic notion. However, we see again and again that mankind's tendency is towards slavery and tyranny instead, natural inclination.

Despite our dear sacrifice of blood and treasure in Iraq, she has sunk back into the tyranny and oppression of a brutal, merciless Islam since we left, hasn't it? History has demonstrated time and time again with a painful consistency that liberty is hard-learned. It is unnatural. It is revealed to an ignorant human race by God himself. True freedom begins with spiritual liberty found only in Jesus Christ.

He said, If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. That's our Lord Jesus Christ. Liberty begins with salvation in Jesus Christ. It is requisite first to abide in Christ's word. Live in what he says, dear listener.

All other liberties, political, economic, religious, they come only in the wake of spiritual liberty. And that liberty begins with a careful teaching against the natural state of the human soul. A people must be taught against the natural tendencies of their hearts in order that freedom and liberty can be had. True liberty has been purchased over a great stretch of redemptive history at a great cost in terms of human suffering and sacrifice. For example, Israel was liberated from her slavery to Egypt through great cost, at the Red Sea, and in the wilderness wanderings for 40 years.

Israel began as a tribal republic in the Promised Land with every opportunity for success. But eventually, even this tribal republic, with God himself as a king, succumbed to the tyranny of monarchy. The people wanted a king like all the other nations. And the period of the kings in Israel is a long, sad story of failure after failure, with a few luminous exceptions like King David or King Josiah. And early principles of a republic, they shone as sparks of hope in places like Greece and especially Rome during her period of the Roman Republic.

The point we want to emphasize is that liberty is learnt, not lavished naturally. As George Washington puts it, a primary object should be the education of our youth in the science of government. In a republic, what species of knowledge can be equally important? What duty more pressing than the communication of it to those who are to be the future guardians of the liberties of the country? Unquote.

George Washington. Only through patient, consistent teaching of constitutional principles could an otherwise ignorant populace learn to govern themselves in true liberty. Thomas Jefferson, he warned that, and I quote, a tyranny of government will follow unless the people at large are educated at the common expense of all. Unquote. Jefferson understood the importance of educating the general public in the principles of a constitutional republic.

He said the most effectual means of preventing the perversion of power into tyranny are to illuminate, as far as practicable, the minds of the people at large, and more especially, to give them knowledge of those facts which history exhibits, that possess thereby of the experience of other ages and countries. They may be enabled to know ambition under all its shapes and prompt to exert their natural powers to defeat its purposes. Unquote. In other words, tyranny can only be defeated when the people are sufficiently educated to recognize it when it rears its ugly head. That's precisely why tyranny thrives in America today.

We do not know ambition under all its shapes, and therefore we allow it to thrive as long as we get our perks. Do we understand the value of history in America? A systematic exposure to the knowledge of those facts which history exhibits, as Jefferson says, would go a long ways towards waking up this clueless generation who are obsessed with affordability, it's a new buzzword, and clicks and blue checks on their social media accounts. And like clueless puppies with a shiny bauble, they're being hypnotized by the false promises of socialism, dangled in front of them by fraudsters like Mayor Mamdani in New York.

Dear listener, there's a reason that the public school system no longer teaches American history and civics and government. If they did, we would realize how we have been had, deliberately deceived in having our liberties stolen from us over the decades, and we would throw the bombs out. The deliberate strategy of Marxism is this, historical blackout. Just as London went stone cold back at night when German bombers flew their missions overhead in World War II, turning out their lights, curtaining their apartments, the Londoners did.

Well, so Marxists use this metaphor for turning out the lights of history so that the people are in the stone cold dark, ignorant of their past and how they went from liberty to slavery at the hands of evil men like those that rule over us today in the United States. Liberty is learnt, dear listener, it's not lavished naturally. Liberty is learnt, not lavished naturally. Parents, teacher children, abide in the life and teaching of Jesus Christ first and foremost. And as a corollary inculcate history and the principles of a constitutional republic.

These are irreplaceable preconditions for liberty. A third precondition is a constant vigilance against tyranny. A constant vigilance against tyranny. This was a quality of our founding fathers cultivated in their generation. They had plenty of experience with the tyranny of king and parliament.

Jefferson said, eternal vigilance is the price of liberty. There is no greater naivete, dear listener, than that of thinking that government has your best interests at heart. Rare is the man who is drawn to power in order to serve his fellow citizens. Most are grasping after it for their own interests. Henry Kissinger captured the feeling, the exhilaration felt by those who seek it.

He said, power is the ultimate aphrodisiac. George Orwell, in his classic 1984. He puts it plainly, what Marxists and globalists are seeking. Two characters, O'Brien and Winston. O'Brien, the evil perpetrator, says to Winston, and I quote from the book, the party seeks power entirely for its own sake.

We are not interested in the good of others. We are interested solely in power, not wealth, or luxury, or long life, or happiness. Only power. Pure power. What pure power means, you will understand presently, O'Brien says to Winston, and begin torturing him.

But he goes on to say, O'Brien does, we know that no one ever sees his power with the intention of relinquishing it. Power is not a means, it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution. One makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship. The object of persecution is persecution.

The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power. Now do you begin to understand me? O'Brien says, you can almost hear the devil cackling in the background. How stupidly naive Americans have become.

We continue to turn to the government for every need and whim, thinking it is kind and compassionate and wants to serve us, right? Government only wants to serve us. Yes, they want to serve us on a platter, rare, medium, or well done. Oh, dear listener, Pollyanna was a character developed by the author Eleanor Porter in the early 20th century. In her book, Porter makes Pollyanna always optimistic about people and naively trusting and attributing the best of intentions to everyone.

She was gushing and sweet and naive. Voila. Behold the great body of Americans when it comes to government. Instead of being vigilant, we are vacillating. Instead of being wary of government, we are in wonder of it.

Instead of looking with suspicion on government, we look with satisfaction on it to give us our crumbs from the table. Well, it's already too late to forestall tyranny, dear listener. It's already upon us. What must happen next is precondition number four. Our founding fathers, precondition number four, a willingness to act when circumstances required.

This was a precondition for a free constitutional republic, a willingness to act when circumstances required. This was the precondition which ignited the American Revolution in 1776. Americans had grown accustomed to their rough liberties in the American wilderness over the centuries, and they were willing to stand up and fight when they were challenged. They made a revolution over a three percent tax on tea and other imports. Oh, the generation of Washington and Jefferson and Adams, they would be ashamed to call us fellow Americans if they saw what we put up with, a federal leviathan, a federal dominion of demons.

That great patriot Samuel Adams, when pondering his fellow countrymen who were too timid to join the cause of liberty in 1776, he said to them quite frankly, and I quote Adams, he said, if ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen. Oh, Sam Adams.

So much for warm feelings and going along to get along, huh? Sam Adams was one man who was a man of Issachar, and I quote from the Bible, those who knew the times and understood what must be done. The men of Issachar, as the Bible says about them, we need men of Issachar today as much as the America of 1776 needed them. Now, I have outlined politically and prolifically in the past, some of the things that must be done in order to destroy the deep state and reestablish a Christian constitutional republic. And those broadcasts are, number one, the doctrine of the lesser magistrates, the biblical response to tyranny.

And that's in three parts, the doctrine of the lesser magistrates. And that you will find on our website for January 8th, January 22nd, and February 5th of 2023. And then also most recently, April 12th of 2026. And that broadcast was The Vulnerabilities of the Federal Dominion of Demons. That is the deep state.

Six vulnerabilities I list. These and many, many more, really, they can all be accessed at our website, americastruths.org. Now, I do not just cry and moan about tyranny, dear listener. I outline and act upon real, practical solutions to tyranny. And I urge you to do the same.
